虽然电影名称是《闻香识女人》，但讲述的却是两个男人之间的友谊。看到这一老一少相互沉默着，淡淡地将友谊酿出醇香，自然令人感动得唏嘘不已。透过老少二人相处的过程，该片刻画出不同时代、不同心境的人物形象，进而剖析了不同的人生观念。不论其是好是坏，生命本身应该是精彩的。对老年人来说，审视是生命存在的价值，而对年轻人来说，审视是自我选择的价值。这一老一少在互相帮助中找到了各自的答案，这种答案也给观众留下了自我反省的启示。
